Personal Details

Please give day and evening telephone numbers. If we need to telephone you at your place of work we will not identify in any way who we are or why we are calling.

If your post requires driving duties your driving licence and car insurance details will need to be viewed prior to any appointment to ensure your licence is appropriate to the post.

Work permit information is requested in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996. It is a criminal offence to employ an individual who is subject to immigration control unless they have the appropriate permissions or are in a category where such employment is allowed. Proof will be required prior to any appointment.

Information regarding other work you will be continuing with is required to meet the Council’s obligations under the Working Time Regulations 1998.

Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974

You should complete this section if:

• You have been cautioned, court martialled or have criminal convictions that are not

considered ‘spent’ under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; or

• There is a court action pending against you.

If you are applying for a post that is exempt from the provisions of the Act, (normally those dealing directly with children and vulnerable adults) you must disclose ALL criminal convictions found against you.

If you do not disclose all criminal records, if appointed, summary dismissal is likely to follow. Convictions will not necessarily be a bar to employment. If you need to declare a conviction, you should give full details including the nature of offence, penalties imposed and duties, including speeding offences, on a separate sheet. Professional training

Qualifications gained in any country in addition to the UK may be acceptable subject to verification of standards.

Original documentation verifying qualification will be requested at interview.

Include any training you have received which did not lead to a qualification but which you feel is relevant to the advertised post. Include part-time education and training.

Professional membership

Please provide membership details of any society or association, which may have some relevance to the post you are applying for.

We will ask for proof of qualifications/membership.

Statement of suitability

It is very important that you read the “Person specification” carefully and then address all aspects of it to the best of your knowledge and ability, particularly areas deemed essential. We also advise you to read the “Job description”.

Try to demonstrate positively your ability in relation to the specification, referring to your previous academic, professional, voluntary and personal experience.

Satisfactory references provide us with extra assurance on the candidate’s suitability for the post.

Data Protection

Many details relating to your employment with South Cambridgeshire District Council may be entered into, held and processed on a computer. As required by the Data Protection Act 1998, this information will be treated securely and confidentially.

Information Data Matching across databases held by the Council and other organisations may be undertaken. You are entitled to know what personal information is being held within a database. Reasonable requests for access/printouts will be met at no charge. If errors are pointed out every endeavour will be made to correct these without delay.

Probationary Periods

All successful candidates for permanent or fixed term contracts of 12 months or more serve a six month probationary period. All successful candidates for fixed term contracts of 12 months or less serve a three-month probationary period.
